  • Africa Oil Corp CEO to Expand Exploration and Production Investment at African Energy Week 2022

CEO of Africa Oil Corporation, Keith Hill, will participate in panel discussions on how Africa can expand exploration activities to boost hydrocarbon energy production at the upcoming African Energy Week 2022.

Keith Hill, President and CEO of Canadian oil and gas exploration and production company, Africa Oil Corporation, will be coming to Cape Town to discuss hydrocarbon exploration and production optimization at Africa’s premier event for the energy sector, African Energy Week (AEW), taking place from 18 – 21 October, 2022.

With Africa witnessing decreases in exploration activities and energy production due to limited investments across the upstream sector, international independents such as Africa Oil Corporation are expected to play a key role in boosting the continent’s hydrocarbon potential. Representing one of Africa’s most important exploration firms, the participation of Keith Hill at AEW 2022 will be critical in shaping the dialogue around how international independents can maximize exploration for deep water projects to boost output as majors exit some of Africa’s hydrocarbon rich basins to diversify their portfolios.

A geologist by profession with over 35 years of experience in the oil industry, Keith Hill has led successful exploration, asset acquisitions and production campaigns at Africa Oil Corporation, Shell and other heavy weights.

Since Hill took the helm at Africa Oil Corporation as CEO in 2009, the firm has been involved in Africa’s most important exploration activities and discoveries of the past decade. Notably, the Venus discovery made with TotalEnergies in Block 2913B offshore Namibia via subsidiary Impact Oil & Gas Limited.

Africa Oil Corporation is successfully operating producing assets in deep-water offshore Nigeria. In Kenya, Hill is also leading Africa Oil Corporation in a series of asset development and exploration programs in Namibia, South Africa and in the Senegal-Guinea Bissau Joint Development Zone, highlighting the company’s commitment to accelerating projects development across Africa’s rich basins.

Hill is also the Chairman of oil explorer and developer ShaMaran Petroleum Corp. Prior to his current role with Africa Oil Corporation, he held senior exploration positions with Canadian mining giant Lundin Group and Occidental Petroleum. He is also behind successful exploration initiatives launched by BlackPearl Resources Inc, Valkyries Petroleum Corp, ShaMaran Petroleum Corp and Tyner Resources during his time with the energy firms.

Through its subsidiaries including Prime Oil & Gas Coöperatief, Africa Oil Corp and Eco (Atlantic) Oil & Gas Ltd, Africa Oil Corporation, under the leadership of Keith Hill, is bringing Africa’s oil and gas market to greater heights. Kenya, which has never produced oil and gas is set to produce its first hydrocarbon energy with Africa Oil Corporation leading the development of these projects.

“Africa Oil Corp and Keith Hill continue to be game changers and bullish about Africa and its future. We are so proud of the work Africa Oil Corp is undertaking to increase the number of energy-producing countries in Africa. We now hope to see an energy independent Kenya – thanks to Keith Hill. The discovery made by Africa Oil Corp in Kenya will not only address the country’s energy needs and generate revenues for the government, but will place the country on the global energy map,” states NJ Ayuk, the Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber (AEC), adding that

“Africa Oil Corp has also done great in making sure Nigeria remains a top oil producer. With gas changing Africa’s energy landscape, we hope to see the works of the company expanding across the continent.” Concluded Ayuk

Under the theme ‘Exploring and Investing in Africa’s Energy Future while Driving an Enabling Environment’ AEW 2022 will host Keith Hill in panel discussions and high-level meetings to discuss boosting exploration activities and investments across Africa’s entire oil and gas value chain.

AEW 2022 is the AEC’s annual conference, exhibition and networking event. AEW 2022 unites African energy stakeholders with investors and international partners to drive industry growth and development and promote Africa as the destination for energy investments. Key organizations such as the African Petroleum Producers Organization, as well as African heavyweights including Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria, have partnered with AEW, strengthening the role the event will play in Africa’s energy future.
