Arne Gibbs
Arne Gibbs has been the General Manager for ExxonMobil Mozambique since April 2023. In this role, he provides strategic leadership for ExxonMobil’s interests in the country, supporting the company’s long‑term engagement in Mozambique and guiding its commercial, operational, and stakeholder activities. In addition, Arne serves as General Manager (Midstream) for Mozambique Rovuma Venture spa (MRV), a joint venture between ExxonMobil, Eni, and CNODC. In this capacity, he works closely with the joint venture partners, and stakeholders, to oversee midstream business activities and ensure alignment across the Area 4 concession.
Arne has worked on ExxonMobil interests in Mozambique since 2016, initially as part of the acquisition team and subsequently in several senior roles, including Commercial Manager, Joint Interest Manager, and Lead Country Manager. He joined ExxonMobil in 2005 and has held a variety of LNG, gas marketing, and commercial roles across the company. His career includes assignments in London, Qatar, Houston, and Mozambique. Arne has extensive experience in gas market optimization, short‑term sales, long‑term LNG and pipeline contracts, and gas business development and monetization.
Born in Campinas, Brazil, Arne has spent much of his life overseas, including time in Portugal, Qatar, United Kingdom, and Brazil, and completed high school in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2000 and served in the U.S. Army as an Armor and Military Intelligence officer.
