Christine Shaner leads the commercial organization for ExxonMobil’s Mozambique business since September 2025. In this role, her work spans major project development, commercial strategy, and complex negotiations, including the commercial development of the Rovuma LNG project. 

Christine has held commercial, finance, and business development roles across the United States, Africa, and the Middle East, with experience across natural gas trading, upstream oil and gas, exploration, infrastructure, acquisitions and divestments, and low-carbon solutions. 

Prior to Mozambique, she helped develop ExxonMobil’s low-carbon business in the Middle East and previously served as commercial manager for the company’s business in Equatorial Guinea, including negotiating and managing the transition of its operated assets to the State.

Christine holds an MBA from University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School and a BA in Economics and International Studies from Johns Hopkins University. She currently resides in Maputo, Mozambique.
