Ilya Asser
Ilya Asser is Managing Director at NEUMAN & ESSER, where he holds full P&L responsibility for both the Primary Market and Aftermarket businesses in Germany, representing a combined scope of more than €200 million in revenue and more than 200 employees across multiple locations. He leads business activities in custom-engineered compression systems and lifecycle service solutions for the oil & gas, chemicals, hydrogen, and broader energy industries across Europe, Central Asia, and Africa.
With more than 15 years of international leadership experience, Ilya combines engineering depth with strong commercial, strategic, and operational leadership. Over the course of his career, he has successfully driven profitable growth, business transformation, organizational restructuring, and market expansion in highly demanding industrial environments. Before taking on his current dual leadership role, he led NEUMAN & ESSER’s U.S. service business, where he delivered a successful turnaround and significantly improved profitability. Earlier career steps in engineering, project management, and international sales shaped his practical understanding of customer needs across the full asset lifecycle.
He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Aachen University of Applied Sciences and an MBA from FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics & Management. At African Energy Week, he will share his perspective on Africa’s oil & gas service opportunities, with a focus on localization, reliability, lifecycle support, and long-term industry value creation.
“Africa’s energy future will be built by combining resource potential with local capability, reliable infrastructure, and long-term industrial partnerships.”
