Coal and Clean Coal Power

As geopolitical tensions continue to mount across the Gulf and energy prices face greater fluctuation in the near term, the question is no longer whether coal-fired power generation is politically fashionable, but what role the resource can continue to play in Africa’s energy transition. This session explores how African economies can utilise existing coal assets and cleaner coal technologies to support energy security, stabilise power costs, preserve foreign exchange and maintain business continuity, while balancing the need to reduce emissions and accelerate the deployment of cleaner energy sources.
