Global Energy Leaders - Forum Opening Address

12 Oct 2026

Energy Additions Forum
Seven months after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz triggered the largest supply disruption in the history of the oil market, the global energy map is being redrawn. With Gulf crude exports roughly halved and LNG flows severely disrupted, buyers in Europe and Asia are turning to suppliers whose cargoes avoid contested chokepoints. Africa's Atlantic and Mediterranean facing producers are among the clearest beneficiaries, while the continent's fuel importers are among the most exposed.
This leadership dialogue brings together ministers, operators, financiers and global buyers to examine how Africa can turn this moment into long-term contracts, final investment decisions and lasting energy security at home, rather than a short-lived windfall.
