Adekunle Gold to Headline AEW 2026 Just Energy Transition Concert in Cape Town
Internationally acclaimed Nigerian singer and songwriter Adekunle Gold is set to headline the Just Energy Transition (JET) Concert, hosted on the eve of the African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 Conference and Exhibition this October. Adekunle Gold’s performance brings one of Africa’s leading contemporary music acts to the continent’s premier energy gathering.
Taking place at the Grand Africa Café from 18:00 to 23:00, the concert will serve as a major opening-day event for AEW 2026, which runs October 12-16. Open to all AEW delegates, the concert will combine live African music with networking, creating a platform for the energy industry to connect beyond the conference floor.
Born Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko in Lagos, Adekunle Gold has built a career spanning Afrobeats, highlife, pop and other influences, establishing himself as one of Nigeria’s most recognizable contemporary artists. He first gained widespread attention with his 2015 single Sade before releasing his debut studio album Gold in 2016. The album reached number seven on Billboard’s World Albums chart and was followed by About 30, Afro Pop, Vol. 1, Catch Me If You Can and Tequila Ever After. His sixth studio album, Fuji, was released in October 2025.
His career has also been marked by a continued evolution in sound, combining African musical traditions with contemporary global genres. His work has earned recognition including Best Alternative Song at The Headies for his track Sade, Best African Music Artist at the IARA Awards in 2017 and Songwriter of the Year at The Headies in 2023.

Adekunle Gold’s JET Concert performance will set the tone for a week focused not only on powering Africa’s economies, but on connecting energy development with the industries, communities and culture that define the continent.
