Ammat Global Resources to Put Congolese-Led Upstream Success on Display at AEW 2026 as a Platinum Partner
Ammat Global Resources will return to African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 – set for October 12‒16 – as a Platinum Partner, bringing one of the Republic of Congo’s fastest-growing independent upstream success stories to Cape Town. The company arrives at this year’s event following a series of operational milestones, including a 75% increase in production capacity, expansion into Algeria and continued investment in Congolese talent.
A subsidiary of Italian private energy company Ludoil, Ammat Global Resources operates offshore assets in the Republic of Congo, managing the full upstream lifecycle from exploration and field development to production optimization and decommissioning.
In May this year, Ammat increased production capacity from 4,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) to 7,000 bpd through upgrades to subsea infrastructure, electrical submersible pumping systems and flow assurance facilities. The achievement demonstrates how targeted brownfield investment can unlock substantial production gains from existing offshore fields.
The company’s offshore portfolio is centered on the Loango and Zatchi fields, where ongoing modernization campaigns have focused on platform upgrades, well reactivations and reservoir optimization. Rather than relying solely on new discoveries, Ammat has prioritized extending the productive life of legacy assets while improving operational efficiency and reducing field decline.
Building on its success in the Republic of Congo, Ammat is also expanding beyond its traditional operating base. In March 2026, Algeria’s National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources pre-qualified the company as an onshore and offshore operator, opening the door to future investment opportunities in one of North Africa’s largest hydrocarbon markets.
Alongside operational growth, Ammat has become a premier example of local content development in Africa’s upstream industry. Between 80% and 85% of its workforce, including engineering, asset management and leadership positions, is comprised of Congolese nationals, demonstrating that indigenous expertise can successfully operate technically complex offshore assets while creating lasting value for host countries.
The company’s strategy aligns closely with the Republic of Congo’s ambition to increase national oil production to 500,000 bpd while advancing the country’s Gas Master Plan. Ammat is supporting those objectives by maximizing associated gas recovery from the Loango field for on-site power generation while pursuing a broader target of increasing oil and gas production by 70% over the next five years.
“Ammat Global Resources has shown how independent operators can unlock new value from mature assets while placing local talent at the center of their growth strategy. The company’s investment in operational excellence, local content and regional expansion reflects the kind of African-led development that is strengthening the continent’s upstream sector,” says NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman, African Energy Chamber.
As a Platinum Partner at AEW 2026, Ammat Global Resources will be primed to showcase how operational innovation, brownfield optimization and local workforce development can drive sustainable production growth across Africa’s mature basins. Its participation reinforces the Republic of Congo’s growing role as a competitive upstream investment destination while highlighting the contribution independent operators are making to the continent’s long-term energy future.
