Amni International Advances Gas Ambitions Ahead of AEW 2026 Bronze Partnership
Amni International will participate at African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 – taking place in Cape Town from October 12‒16 – as a Bronze Partner, highlighting its strategy to expand offshore gas development while strengthening its position as one of Nigeria’s premier indigenous upstream operators. The company arrives at the event as it advances new investment opportunities across oil, gas and industrial infrastructure.
Amni has spent more than three decades building an offshore portfolio centered on OML 112 and OML 117 in Nigeria, alongside interests in OML 52 and Ghana’s Central Tano Deepwater Block. Today, the company maintains production of approximately 22,000 barrels of oil per day while positioning natural gas as its next major growth engine.
That strategy is anchored by the Ima Gas Field, where TotalEnergies is expected to take a final investment decision on an approximately $750 million development. The project targets around 1.6 trillion cubic feet of gas and is expected to leverage existing infrastructure to supply Nigeria LNG, supporting the country’s ambitions to expand domestic gas utilization and exports.
The development reflects a broader shift underway among Nigerian independents. Rather than focusing solely on crude production, companies are increasingly investing in gas resources that can support power generation, industrial development and export markets while reducing project costs through existing infrastructure.
Beyond its producing assets, Amni is pursuing opportunities created by international oil company divestments while evaluating plans for an integrated industrial complex incorporating power generation, refining and petrochemicals. The strategy reflects a long-term vision to create additional value from Nigeria’s hydrocarbon resources beyond upstream production alone.
As African energy markets continue to evolve, indigenous operators are assuming a larger role in developing projects once led almost exclusively by international oil companies.
“Amni International exemplifies the growing strength of Africa’s indigenous upstream industry. Its continued investment in offshore production and gas development demonstrates how local companies are creating long-term value while strengthening Africa’s energy security,” says NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman, African Energy Chamber.
At AEW 2026, Amni International is set to showcase its strategy to expand gas production, pursue new upstream opportunities and support Nigeria’s broader industrial development agenda. As a Bronze Partner, the company joins a growing group of indigenous African operators helping shape the continent’s next chapter of energy investment and development.
