COPIA Group of Companies Joins AEW 2026 as Platinum Partner as Angola Expands Energy and Infrastructure Investment

COPIA has expanded from technical supervision and heavy civil works into oil and gas, industrial infrastructure, logistics, mining, bioenergy and technology. Its AEW participation comes as Angola accelerates offshore exploration, field development and infrastructure investment while strengthening the role of domestic service companies.

COPIA is preparing to showcase two proprietary software platforms, Copia Six and Copia DynamicSim, in Angola this year. Copia Six uses AI for real-time project compliance, technical supervision and asset safety management, while DynamicSim provides industrial simulation capabilities for testing infrastructure under different operating conditions.

The technology push follows COPIA’s September 2025 cooperation agreement with the Associação de Geofísica de Angola (ASGA), which expanded its involvement in geophysical and seismic innovation and strengthened its position within Angola’s upstream services sector.

The group is also involved in the 2,172-MW Caculo Cabaça Hydroelectric Project on the Kwanza River, which is set to become Angola’s largest power plant. The project includes a 130-meter-high concrete dam, with the first generating turbine targeted for activation in October 2026 and full completion expected between 2027 and 2028.

Construction reached 25% completion by December 2024, with crucial deep-tunnel excavation completed ahead of schedule. The project gives COPIA major exposure to large-scale power infrastructure while complementing its established oil and gas capabilities.

The company is also targeting opportunities beyond Angola. Its ASGA partnership and proprietary technology platforms stand to support expansion into regional markets, including Namibia’s Orange Basin, where offshore exploration has intensified.

“COPIA’s evolution from engineering and infrastructure into digital solutions demonstrates the depth of African technical expertise and innovation,” says NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman, African Energy Chamber. “Its participation at AEW 2026 highlights the growing role of indigenous companies in delivering the infrastructure, technology and services needed to unlock Africa’s energy potential.”

At AEW 2026, COPIA will engage governments, operators, investors and technology companies on Angola’s energy investment pipeline, local industrial capacity and the deployment of African engineering and digital solutions across the continent.
