Energia Brings Nigeria’s Next Upstream Investment Story to AEW 2026

Energia Brings Nigeria’s Next Upstream Investment Story to AEW 2026

Nigerian independent Energia will join African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 as a Silver Sponsor, spotlighting a new phase of growth among the country’s indigenous operators.

While early rounds of marginal field development focused on bringing dormant assets back online, companies like Energia are now moving beyond stabilization toward sustained production growth and portfolio expansion. This transition is reshaping Nigeria’s upstream landscape, positioning local players as long-term operators rather than short-cycle entrants.

Energia’s current growth trajectory reflects this shift. The company is upgrading infrastructure to increase production handling capacity to 15,000 barrels per day, a move that signals confidence in both asset longevity and future reserve development. At the same time, it is advancing new opportunities beyond its core Ebendo Field, with prospects such as Ugbo and Irigbo supporting a more diversified and scalable asset base.

Meanwhile, Energia’s entry into Nigeria’s gas flare commercialization initiative marks a strategic pivot toward monetizing previously wasted resources – aligning the company with a broader industry push to turn gas into a driver of domestic supply, industrial growth and revenue diversification.

Underpinning this next phase is a stronger focus on technical and organizational capacity. Investments in seismic interpretation, field optimization and infrastructure upgrades – alongside recent leadership appointments including Managing Director and CEO Oladimeji Bashorun – reflect a company positioning itself for more complex, higher-value operations.

“Energia represents the evolution of Nigeria’s indigenous sector – from initial asset acquisition to building scalable, investment-ready operations,” says NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber. “This is where the next chapter of Africa’s upstream growth will be defined.”

By participating at AEW 2026, Energia will engage with African and international investors, policymakers and industry stakeholders to showcase the capabilities of Nigeria’s indigenous energy sector. The company’s ongoing investments in production growth, gas monetization and asset diversification align with broader efforts to maximize Africa’s natural resources for economic development.
