Global Service Providers Forge Ahead in African Energy – Key Executives to Speak at AEW 2025

African Energy Week (AEW) 2025: Invest in African Energies is set to bring together leading figures from the global service industry, with a line-up of executives who will share insights on the latest contracts, technologies and financing models shaping Africa’s oil and gas future. At a time when investment appetite is rising and African producers seek to expand capacity, the service sector is playing a critical role in unlocking new opportunities and advancing project delivery across the continent.

Among them, Andy Perchard, Managing Director and Country Manager of AGR in Australia, will highlight the company’s multi-disciplinary engineering and consultancy services, including reservoir and well management. Mohamed Atef, Chief Commercial Officer for Africa at Elsewedy Electric, will discuss the company’s expanded role in energy infrastructure following its acquisition of a 60% stake in Thomassen Service, which strengthens its gas turbine operations, maintenance and repair capabilities across Africa and the Middle East – including Nigeria.

Matthieu Milandri, Head of Upstream Finance at Trafigura, will bring a timely perspective on financing oil, gas and power infrastructure, shaped by recent deals from his firm. Trafigura has cemented its footprint in southern Africa, partnering on a 2,000 MW cross-border high-voltage interconnector from Angolan hydroelectric sources to mining demand centers in Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and supporting the strategic Lobito Corridor rail and port corridor that bolsters regional mineral trade. The group’s financing ambitions also extend to discussions on a potential $2 billion oil and gas support package in Equatorial Guinea

Lance Green, Sales Engineer at Merichem Technologies, will join the discussion on how advanced refining and chemical solutions are helping African producers improve processing efficiency and environmental performance, while Pablo Memba, CEO of Grupo Memba, is set to highlight the rise of local leadership in logistics and service provision tailored to regional needs.

TGS will be represented by Vice President – Africa, Mediterranean & Middle East Peter Wijnen, Vice President – Eastern Hemisphere Chris Drage, Business Development Manager Johnny Chigbo, and Business Development Manager – Africa, Mediterranean & Middle East James Gara, underlining the critical role of subsurface data solutions in exploration decision-making. Their presence reflects the ongoing prioritization of seismic mapping and imaging services, essential for offshore and onshore operators seeking to de-risk and advance their exploration portfolios.

Darsh Agarwal, CEO of Bharat Tanks & Vessels, brings attention to supplier-side activity in industrial fabrication, reinforcing how equipment manufacturing supports downstream infrastructure growth across African markets.

As the service sector moves to the forefront of enabling energy projects, these speakers will underscore how technical services, regional infrastructure contracts, financing mechanisms and locally adapted solutions are becoming central to Africa’s oil and gas trajectory. AEW offers an ideal stage for these voices to converge on how service providers are driving real-world advances that underpin energy investment and development across the continent.

AEW: Invest in African Energies is the platform of choice for project operators, financiers, technology providers and government, and has emerged as the official place to sign deals in African energy. Visit www.aecweek.com for more information about this exciting event.
