Ghana is bringing its emerging energy and investment opportunities directly to a global audience with a high-level delegation from the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) joining Africa’s largest energy conference: African Energy Week (AEW) 2026. GNPC CEO Kwame Ntow Amoah is leading a delegation of 19 senior representatives to the Cape Town event, unlocking new opportunities for upstream expansion, regional collaboration and long-term project development.  

The move comes as Ghana enters a new exploration and production cycle, backed by multi-billion-dollar investment commitments, expanded drilled and long-term license extensions across its flagship offshore assets. The GNPC is at the forefront of this expansion through its various partnerships with international operators and ongoing investments. The corporation continues to support Ghana’s broader goals of raising production, reducing imports and strengthening West African fuel security. 

A cornerstone of this strategy is the West Cape Three Points and Deepwater Tano concessions, home to the Jubilee and TEN fields. Ghana’s parliament ratified the petroleum agreements for the concessions earlier this year, unlocking up to $2 billion in incremental investment including as many as 20 additional wells at Jubilee. The agreement also increases GNPC's participation in the fields by an additional 10% from July 2036 and introduces revised gas sales terms designed to provide greater revenue certainty.

Drilling is already supporting production growth at the concessions. Jubilee's J74-P well came online in January 2026, ramping up to approximately 13,000 barrels per day (bpd) and helping lift gross Jubilee production above 70,000 bpd in February. Partners are also preparing a ten-well campaign across Jubilee and TEN from mid-2027, building on additional wells brought online during 2026. The campaign is designed around existing infrastructure and tie-back opportunities, supporting production growth while controlling development costs.

Beyond Jubilee and TEN, GNPC is advancing the development of the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) concession – an integrated oil and gas development situated in the Tano Basin. A $1.5 billion investment agreement was signed by the OCTP partners – namely, Eni (operator), GNPC and Vitol – for the development of the Eban-Akoma discoveries alongside gas infrastructure upgrades targeting an additional 350 million cubic feet per day of supply by 2028.

Through its exploration branch Explorco, the GNPC also plans to spud an exploration well in the Voltaian Basin in Q3, 2026. The well represents the first drilled in the basin since 1974, with preparatory steps already taken. Meanwhile, the government is revising its upstream regulatory framework and expects five new petroleum agreements before the end of 2026, creating opportunities to bring additional acreage and investment into the market.

At AEW 2026- taking place October 12-16,the 19-member delegation will position GNPC at the center of discussions around Ghana's next upstream investment cycle, connecting the country's expanding project pipeline with international capital and technical partners. The delegation complements the participation of Minister for Energy and Green Transition John Abdulai Jinapor, further strengthening Ghana's presence at the continent's premier energy investment platform.
