Halliburton Joins AEW 2024 as Bronze Sponsor, Reinforcing Commitment to Africa's Energy Growth

Global energy services leader Halliburton has joined the African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energy 2024 conference – taking place November 4-8 in Cape Town - as a Bronze Sponsor. With a long history of supporting African energy and infrastructure projects, Halliburton’s participation underscores its commitment to helping African countries achieve their energy goals through digitalization and efficiency, along with a balanced approach to oil and gas development.

Halliburton recently expanded its footprint in Africa with a number of key projects and strategic collaborations, delivering industry-leading technologies and integrated solutions to clients in Africa's oil and gas sector. In April, Halliburton won a deepwater multi-well construction contract for Block 2914A in Namibia’s Orange Basin, involving the construction of exploration and appraisal wells, as well as secured a $300-million contract with Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria for a major offshore oil and gas facility. The American multinational is also developing oilfields and a refinery for Libya’s National Oil Corporation under a $1.4-billion contract with U.S.-based Honeywell UOP.

AEW: Invest in African Energy is the platform of choice for project operators, financiers, technology providers, and governments, and has emerged as the official place to sign deals in African energy. Visit www.aecweek.com for more information about this exciting event.

Halliburton has been actively involved in supporting offshore exploration and development activities across the continent, bringing advanced technology solutions and services to enhance production efficiency and optimize resource extraction. These projects demonstrate Halliburton's focus on leveraging advanced technologies to drive efficiency and productivity, as well as its commitment to supporting local industry development through training and knowledge transfer. At AEW 2024: Invest in African Energy, Halliburton will highlight its contributions to the development of Africa's oil and gas reserves, as well as showcase its latest initiatives in digital transformation and sustainable energy solutions.

Halliburton has also taken significant steps towards sustainability, not only in reducing the environmental footprint of its operations, but also driving local content development. In May 2024, Halliburton invited eligible local companies to submit an Expression of Interest for the supply of goods and services across the oil and gas industry, including African markets. The move has been widely praised as a significant step towards increasing the involvement of African-based companies and service providers, while creating opportunities for local businesses to expand their market presence and strengthen national and regional capabilities.

“Halliburton's role as a leader in advanced technology solutions and its dedication to enhancing Africa's oil and gas sector make them a valuable partner in our efforts to drive energy development on the continent,” says NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber. “Their expertise is crucial in helping Africa optimize its vast energy resources, ensuring long-term benefits for the region.”
