Levene Energy Holdings to Rollout Mini-Grid Expansion in Nigeria

Energy services solutions provider Levene Energy Holdings has announced plans to expand its hybrid mini-grid solutions across underserved Nigerian communities. The company’s expansion aligns with broader initiatives to promote rural electrification.

The announcement was made during the Scaling Renewable Innovation: Bridging the Energy Access Gap with Off-Grid and Smart Technologies panel session – sponsored by Levene Energy Holdings – at African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energies 2025.

“We think the models that work take into consideration catchment areas and locations where you have institutions like schools, military bases and the like and create mini-grid clusters within that,” stated Nzan Ogbe, Group CEO, Levene Energy Holdings.

Levene Energy Holdings’ subsidiary LPV Technologies is already deploying hybrid solar mini-grids with a pay-as-you-go system, allowing households to access reliable electricity while utilizing solar panels manufactured locally at its Lagos facility.

The panel session also featured Marc Gigon, Industry Advisor to multinational corporation Microsoft, who outlined the company’s strategy to leverage AI to advance renewable energy and sustainability across Africa. Microsoft has invested in UK-based Konexa to help launch Nigeria’s first private renewable energy trading platform, supporting industrial decarbonization, community electrification and the country’s clean energy goals.

“AI is more than just technology – it is an enabler,” Gigon stated, adding, “We believe in the potential of renewable energy in Africa, and we believe AI is a way to unlock this potential.”

Meanwhile, solar mini-grid developer EtinPower Limited emphasized its strategy to promote economic empowerment through productive-use appliances, training programs and community partnerships. Aligned with SDG 7, the company also leverages smart off-grid and hybrid solar mini-grids to deliver reliable, sustainable energy while supporting local development and income-generating opportunities.

“SDG 7 is my concern – ending poverty. Renewables remain the most viable solution to bringing energy access to rural communities in Africa,” stated Yinka Omorogbe, CEO/ Founder, EtinPower Limited.
