Perenco Advances African E&P Footprint, Joins AEW 2024 as Gold Sponsor
Independent oil and gas explorer Perenco will take center stage as a gold sponsor at this year’s African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energy conference. In line with the company’s commitment to catalyzing investment for the advancement of the African energy sector, Perenco is expected to drive discussions around the continent’s upstream sector and make a case for further oil and gas exploration.
The company launched a new oil and gas production facility in the DRC last May, which will also be used as an offshore skills training facility. The facility’s gas compression capabilities will help Perenco to avoid gas flaring in oil and gas production and reduce the country’s carbon footprint by mitigating 120,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year. Developments such as this will be presented during AEW: Invest in African Energy as the company expands its footprint across the African energy market.
AEW: Invest in African Energy 2024 is the platform of choice for project operators, financiers, technology providers and government, and has emerged as the official place to sign deals in African energy. Visit www.aecweek.com for more information about this exciting event.
Perenco announced FID in February 2023 for the construction of a 700,000-ton-per-year LNG production facility at the Cap Lopex terminal in Gabon. Representing an investment of over $1 billion, the unit will take up to three years to complete and is expected to result in Gabon becoming self-sufficient in butane production and an exporter of LNG. Production is targeted for 2026 and the project is expected to result in Cap Lopez becoming and oil and gas terminal for the West African country.
Boasting a wealth of experience and expertise in oil and gas exploration, production, operation and management, Perenco has a strong pipeline of projects worldwide, demonstrating their extensive reach and understanding of diverse energy landscapes. Notwithstanding their global approach, Perenco’s newfound focus on Africa is set to unlock a new wave of investment and projects development as the independent company moves to strengthen its presence across promising acreage continent-wide.
Marking the company’s third consecutive year participating at AEW – the only conference on the continent representative of the entire African energy sector – Perenco has long-been a key player in the opening up of the continent’s upstream industry. The company’s operations cover several countries in Africa, including the DRC, Cameroon, Chad, Gabon, the Republic of the Congo and Tunisia.
“Perenco continues to reaffirm its unwavering dedication to Africa’s energy sector by driving sustainable growth, fostering technological advancement and paving the way for a brighter future for all Africans,” said NJ Ayuk, the Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber.
During this year’s edition of AEW: Invest in African Energy, Perenco will build upon previous discussions, emphasizing its focus on upstream development in Africa. As a trusted partner in oil and gas development, Perenco continues to drive oil and gas discoveries while enhancing production and project development.
