SKA Supply & Trading Joins AEW 2026 as Bronze Partner Amid Nigeria's Fuel Export Shift
Nigerian energy trading company SKA Supply & Trading will participate at African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 as a Bronze Partner, joining the continent's energy leaders in Cape Town from October 12–16. Headquartered in Abuja and led by CEO Mohammed Gabdo, the company trades and distributes crude oil, condensates, refined fuels, LPG, LNG and compressed natural gas (CNG), working across the import, export and retail segments of Nigeria's downstream market. Its partnership brings an indigenous trading company into AEW's discussions on how Nigeria is becoming a supplier of refined fuel to its own market and its neighbors.
AEW 2026 will convene the continent's fuel producers, traders and buyers as Nigeria's seaborne trade in petroleum products rises to roughly seven times its 2023 level, according to analysis by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). Shipments averaged 561,000 barrels per day (bpd) in the second quarter of 2026, up from 79,000 bpd across 2023, with 350,000 bpd going to export markets and 211,000 bpd moving between Nigerian ports. The growth tracks the ramp-up of the Dangote refinery, with volumes rising again after February 2026 maintenance raised its crude distillation capacity from 650,000 bpd to 700,000 bpd.
As Nigerian-refined product moves inland and across borders, SKA's import, export and retail operations place the company at several points along the supply chain. The company brings refined fuels and gas products in from international markets and moves them to customers nationwide via partner depots, while it sells crude oil and condensates to overseas buyers. Its retail arm serves filling stations and commercial fleets across the country, with a client base that runs from producers and refiners to state-owned companies, multinationals and other trading houses.
“Nigeria refines much more of its own fuel now, which changes the landscape for everyone moving product around the country and across the region,” said NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber. “Traders like SKA understand how fuel gets from the depot to the customer, and we want that knowledge in the room in Cape Town alongside the producers and the financiers.”
SKA's gas business spans LPG, LNG and CNG, all segments where Nigerian supply has strengthened over the past two years. Figures presented by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) put national LPG demand at roughly 1.42 million tons a year, with domestic producers supplying 88.2% of the market in 2026 against 82.4% the year before. A larger local share of that market has direct implications for household energy access and industrial fuel costs, and it gives Nigerian traders a stronger position in a segment once dominated by imports.
Expected to draw more than 9,000 delegates from over 100 countries to the Cape Town International Convention Centre, AEW 2026 will host public officials, national oil companies, power utilities, lenders and project developers. SKA's partnership adds the downstream trading segment to that gathering, linking the refineries and gas processors driving Africa's supply growth with the distribution networks that deliver it to market.
