TotalEnergies’ Country Managers Join AEW 2026 as Large-Scale Oil Projects Take Shape

Senior country leadership from energy major TotalEnergies’ operations in Namibia, Angola, Mozambique Nigeria and the Republic of Congo have joined the upcoming African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 Conference and Exhibition, reinforcing the company’s position as one of the continent’s biggest energy producers. Taking place from October 12-16 in Cape Town, the event represents the largest energy gathering on the African continent. TotalEnergies is also a Platinum Sponsor of the event.

TotalEnergies is at the forefront of two of Namibia’s biggest oil projects: the Venus and Mopane developments. The company plans to reach a Final Investment Decision for the Venus project in July 2026, with first oil on the cards for 2029/2030. The company has also strengthened its portfolio through a deal signed with Galp in late 2025 for operatorship of PEL 83 - home to the Mopane discovery. An exploration and appraisal campaign featuring three wells over the next two years is planned. Mariam Kane-Garcia, Managing Director & Country Chair for Namibia, is expected to share further insight into the projects at AEW 2026.

As one of Angola’s biggest oil producers, TotalEnergies has scaled its production in recent months through the development of several large-scale projects. These include the Begonia and CLOV Phase 3 projects - launched in 2025 with a combined capacity of 60,000 barrels per day (bpd) - and the Kaminho development in the Kwanza Basin - set to come online in 2028. The company is also pursuing frontier opportunities through a deal signed alongside ExxonMobil to advance exploration across four blocks in the Benguela and Namibe basins. Martin Deffontaines, Managing Director & Country Chair for TotalEnergies in Angola, joins AEW 2026 to discuss these initiatives.

In the Republic of Congo, TotalEnergies has further strengthened its offshore portfolio with a new discovery made at the Moho license. The discovery targeted the Moho G structure at the broader Moho complex - one of the country’s biggest projects, accounting for more than half of total output. The find complements the previous Moho F discovery, which combined, unlock an additional 100 million barrels of oil equivalent, aligning with TotalEnergies’ broader ambitions to expand production capacity across the complex. Eric Delattre, Managing Director & Country Chair for the Republic of Congo, is expected to share more insight into TotalEnergies’ development plans in Congo during AEW 2026.

TotalEnergies is also at the forefront of Mozambique’s LNG expansion. The company restarted the development of the Mozambique LNG project earlier this year following the removal of force majeure, targeting an operational start in 2029. The project features the construction of two liquefaction trains, with a combined expansion capacity of 43 million tons per annum. As of May 2026, the project was 42% complete. Jean-Pascal Clémençon, Managing Director & Country Chair for TotalEnergies E&P in Mozambique is expected to share more insight into the project during AEW 2026.

In Nigeria, TotalEnergies continues to consolidate its portfolio while contributing towards resource commercialization and production growth. The company’s activities in the country span offshore and onshore production, gas processing, LNG supply and renewable energy initiatives. In 2026, the company signed an agreement to divest its interest in the Shell Petroleum Development Company joint venture, reflecting a broader strategy of focusing capital allocation toward offshore and lower-emissions assets while optimizing its portfolio structure. Matthieu Bouyer, Managing Director & Country Chair for TotalEnergies EP Nigeria joins AEW 2026 to discuss the Nigerian strategy.

“TotalEnergies continues to demonstrate why it remains one of the most important energy investors operating in Africa today. From frontier exploration in Namibia to production expansion in Congo and Angola to portfolio optimization in Nigeria, the company is actively shaping Africa’s upstream future while supporting long-term energy security, infrastructure development and industrial growth across the continent,” states stated NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman, African Energy Chamber.
