TotalEnergies Executives Join AEW 2026 as Major Energy Projects Advance Across the Continent

Senior leadership from TotalEnergies’ operations in Namibia, Mozambique and across its broader African upstream portfolio will participate as speakers at African Energy Week (AEW) 2026, taking place October 12‒16 in Cape Town. The delegation includes Alexandre Depiesse, GPI Venus, Namibia; Nicolas Cambefort, Mozambique LNG Operations and Project Director; and Marieme-Sav Sow, Vice President of Engagement & Advocacy.

Their participation comes as TotalEnergies advances some of the continent’s largest oil and gas developments. These developments span Namibia’s world-class offshore discoveries, Mozambique’s LNG expansion and broader initiatives focused on stakeholder engagement, local content and sustainable energy development across Africa.

In Namibia, TotalEnergies is spearheading the development of the Venus project, one of the most significant offshore oil discoveries made globally in recent years. Located in block 2913B in the Orange Basin, the Venus field is estimated to contain at least three billion barrels of recoverable resources and is expected to anchor Namibia’s emergence as a major oil-producing nation. TotalEnergies is currently advancing environmental approvals, regulatory reviews and project planning ahead of a targeted final investment decision in July 2026.

In Mozambique, TotalEnergies is leading the development of Mozambique LNG, one of Africa’s largest energy infrastructure projects. Following the lifting of force majeure, construction and offshore activities have resumed across the $20 billion development, which targets first LNG production in 2029. The project is designed with an initial capacity of 13.12 million tons per annum and is expected to unlock approximately 65 trillion cubic feet of natural gas resources.

Mozambique LNG remains a cornerstone project for both Mozambique and the global LNG market. Beyond energy production, the project is expected to create thousands of jobs, stimulate local procurement and support long-term economic development in Cabo Delgado Province. As project execution accelerates, Cambefort is expected to provide insights into development timelines, contractor mobilization and the next phase of implementation.

Representing TotalEnergies’ broader African strategy, Sow oversees stakeholder engagement, advocacy and sustainability initiatives across the company’s exploration and production portfolio on the continent. Her responsibilities include strengthening relationships with governments, communities and industry stakeholders while supporting local content development, workforce inclusion and long-term socioeconomic investment programs.

Through her leadership role, Sow has become a prominent voice on corporate sustainability, energy access and workforce diversity across Africa’s energy sector. At AEW 2026, she is expected to share perspective on how operators can strengthen collaboration with host governments and communities while supporting investment, energy security and responsible resource development.

“TotalEnergies continues to demonstrate its long-term commitment to Africa through large-scale investments that are reshaping the continent’s energy future. From Namibia’s transformative oil discoveries to Mozambique’s LNG expansion and broader stakeholder engagement initiatives across Africa, the company remains a key driver of investment, development and energy security,” says NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman, African Energy Chamber.

As one of Africa’s largest energy investors, TotalEnergies continues to expand its footprint across established and emerging hydrocarbon markets. The participation of these senior executives at AEW 2026 highlights the company’s commitment to advancing new projects, strengthening partnerships and supporting the next phase of African energy development.
