VivaJets CEO to Speak at AEW 2025 Amid Growing Aviation Demand in African Energy
Erika Achum, CEO of Nigeria’s business aviation company VivaJets, has confirmed his participation as a speaker at the upcoming African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energies, scheduled to take place from September 29 to October 03, 2025 in Cape Town. During the event, Achum is expected to highlight the critical role of SMEs and startups in driving inclusive economic growth in Africa as well as the vital role the aviation industry plays in supporting trade and international commerce.
VivaJets plays a key role in supporting oil and gas operations by providing connectivity, transportation and logistical services. The company simplifies business travel within Nigeria - Africa’s largest oil producer - while also ensuring global investors have seamless access to the market through exclusive aviation offerings. VivaJets plans to expand its fleet in 2025 with the addition of three Bombardier Challenger 604 aircraft. The $25 million aircraft acquisition will strengthen luxury private jet charter services across Nigeria and the wider region, enhancing travel solutions for industry stakeholders as Nigeria deepens collaboration with international investors to unlock its full energy potential.
With the country preparing to launch a licensing round offering over 220 blocks and advancing its Decade of Gas Initiative to achieve production targets of three million barrels per day (bpd) of liquids and 12 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) of gas by 2030, companies like VivaJets will play an increasingly important role. Beyond business travel, VivaJets, as one of Africa’s fastest-growing aviation businesses, is well positioned to support seismic survey campaigns and aerial geomapping initiatives that are central to unlocking Africa’s hydrocarbon potential.
During AEW: Invest in African Energies 2025, Achum will participate in panel discussions as well as exclusive networking sessions, exploring new partnerships under the event’s mandate of leveraging Africa’s untapped hydrocarbon resources to make energy poverty history by 2030. VivaJets is also a Gold Partner of the event, reflecting its commitment to supporting the continent’s energy development.
“VivaJets is a prime example of how innovative African enterprises are helping unlock the continent’s energy potential. By enhancing connectivity and providing critical logistical support to oil and gas operations, the company is not only facilitating investment into Nigeria but also strengthening the wider regional ecosystem.,” stated Tomás Gerbasio, VP of Commercial and Strategic Engagement at the African Energy Chamber.
AEW: Invest in African Energies is the platform of choice for project operators, financiers, technology providers and government, and has emerged as the official place to sign deals in African energy. Visit www.aecweek.com for more information about this exciting event.
