Yinson Production to Bring its Expanding African FPSO Portfolio to AEW 2026
Yinson Production, a major independent operator of floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels, will participate as an Associate Sponsor at the African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 Conference and Exhibition - taking place October 12-16 in Cape Town. The sponsorship comes as the company deepens its presence in West Africa's offshore oil sector, reflecting a commitment to expanding the deployment of innovative FPSO solutions continent-wide.
Yinson Production runs a fleet of ten vessels and holds a contracted revenue backlog of around $19 billion through 2048, built on long-term lease-and-operate contracts with major producers across Latin America, West Africa and Southeast Asia. Its African work places it at the heart of the floating infrastructure that allows deepwater fields to come on stream.
One of the company’s strategic projects is the Agogo FPSO, deployed at the Agogo Integrated West Hub Development Project at Block 15/06 offshore Angola. Operating under a 15-year charter worth around $5.3 billion for Azule Energy – the bp-Eni joint venture that is Angola's largest independent producer – the vessel can process 120,000 barrels of oil per day. It delivered first oil in August 2025, some 29 months after the award and four months earlier than planned.
The Agogo FPSO also sets a technical precedent. It is billed as the first FPSO in service anywhere to capture carbon onboard, using a post-combustion system that began operating in early 2026, and is designed to emit around 27% less carbon than a conventional vessel.
In Ghana, Yinson Production operates the FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor at Eni's Offshore Cape Three Points project, where it integrated the field's associated gas into the export system in 2025, lifting gas supply that feeds domestic power generation.
Behind the company’s growth is fresh capital. In 2025, Yinson Production secured a $1 billion investment from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation and RRJ Group, among the largest structured equity raises in Southeast Asia, giving it firepower to pursue new projects. The investment will support the company’s broader global expansion, unlocking new FPSO opportunities for African oil and gas producers.
“Yinson Production shows how world-class floating production can unlock Africa's deepwater resources while raising the bar on emissions,” says NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber. “Delivering a project like Agogo ahead of schedule, with carbon capture built in, is the standard the continent should be aiming for.”
As an Associate Sponsor at AEW 2026, Yinson Production is expected to feature in discussions on deepwater development, FPSO deployment and the technologies lowering the carbon footprint of offshore production across Africa. For Yinson Production, AEW 2026 represents an opportunity to position its FPSO expertise at the center of Africa's next cycle of offshore investment and project development.
