Ashanti Mbanga is a dynamic Project Manager at SANEDI, where she leads the Energy Efficient Appliance Standards and Labelling Programme, driving sustainable transformation in South Africa's energy landscape. With a BCom in Transport, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public and Development Management, and advanced certifications in climate adaptation, mitigation, and energy efficiency, Ashanti brings a multidisciplinary approach to sustainable development. She previously served as UNIDO’s Low Carbon Transport Project Associate, championing sustainable mobility from 2016 to 2020. A recognised environmental leader, she won Miss Earth South Africa in 2013 and founded the AM Foundation to advance environmental education and community empowerment. Ashanti also served as Vice Chairperson of the South African Females in Energy Efficiency (2022–2024) and is a proud mentor with The Mentorship Boardroom, fostering the next generation of professionals in energy and sustainability. Her impactful work has earned her several accolades, including the 2024 Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans (Energy), SANEDI’s Most Progressive Employee (2023), and a 2022 DMRE award for advancing gender equality. Ashanti is a passionate advocate for inclusive climate solutions and remains committed to building a more equitable, energy-efficient future.
