Dr. Andrew Shaw is the Group Chief Officer: Strategy and Planning of Transnet SOC Ltd. He has over 25 years’ experience in the delivery of innovative transport sector initiatives, and has worked globally across the full “Capital projects delivery lifecycle”; from strategy formulation and policy sector reform, to commercial due diligence and planning, to operations optimisation and programme management. As Chief Strategy and Planning Officer, he is responsible for the delivery of a collaborative, forwardlooking, commercially driven strategy, which re-positions Transnet in a post-COVID world and aligns the organisation with Government’s economic growth and competitiveness objectives. Part of this realignment involves effectively managing the selection, delivery and execution of a strategy aligned capital portfolio; and to work more closely with the private sector to enhance Transnet’s effectiveness in the freight and logistics sector. He joined Transnet from PwC where he was Partner and Africa Lead for Transport and Logistics; where he managed the funding, financing and business case formulation of a complex array of port, rail and aviation projects. Dr. Shaw holds a BSc, MSc in Engineering, a PhD in Transport Economics from the University of Leeds and a MBA from the University of Reading, UK.
