Dr. Babajide Agunbiade

Dr. Babajide Agunbiade is an accomplished engineer, business leader, and philanthropist with over 25 years of global experience in energy and infrastructure development. Recognized as one of only 13 global subject matter experts in subsea production systems as of 2021, he currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Alpha Energy Resources and sits on the board of Dorman Long Engineering Limited.Dr. Agunbiade’s distinguished career spans leadership roles at global corporations such as General Electric (GE) and National Oilwell Varco (NOV Inc). At NOV, he served as General Manager for Africa and the Gulf of Mexico, and subsequently as Director of Business Development for the Subsea Production Systems group. In this role, he contributed to numerous offshore oil and gas projects across Sub-Saharan Africa and the Gulf of Mexico, directly securing over $2 billion USD in contracts. Prior to NOV, he was Principal Engineer at GE Gasification and Managing Director for GE Gasification in West Africa. Notably, he led the engineering team for the 618MW IGCC plant at Duke Energy’s Edwardsport Station in Indiana—then the world’s largest and cleanest coal-based IGCC facility. Dr. Agunbiade holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and production engineering from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is a graduate of the prestigious GE Edison Engineering Development Program and holds a master’s in systems engineering, an MBA from the American Intercontinental University, a master’s in organizational management, and a Ph.D. in Leadership and Business from Higher Place Christian University, Atlanta. He is currently a doctoral scholar in Environmental Policy at Texas Southern University. A recipient of the U.S. Congressional Commendation for contributions to the oil and gas sector and global philanthropy, Dr. Agunbiade also serves as a United Nations Ambassador for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
