Senior Oil Demand Analyst

Dr. Sulaiman Saad holds a BSc degree in Economics with honours from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria, an MSc in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and a PhD in Energy Economics from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom. He joined the services of the Nigerian Defence Academy as an Assistant Lecturer in 2001 and rose to the rank of Associate Professor in 2016. In more than two decades of his academic career, he researched and lectured at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), as well as at Kaduna State University and was a visiting research fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. He headed the Department of Economics and the Centre for Energy and Environment, both in NDA. He was also the pioneer Director of the Centre for Energy and Environmental Strategy Research, Kaduna State University, and the focal person for the UNDP/GEF Sustainable Fuelwood program, Kaduna State Project. Currently, Dr. Saad is the Senior Oil Demand Analyst in the Petroleum Studies Department at the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Vienna, Austria, in which capacity he analyses and forecasts short-term oil demand for oil products at global and regional levels.
