H.E. Anatole Collinet Makosso

H.E. Anatole Collinet Makosso, born in 1965 in Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo, is a seasoned politician and the current Prime Minister of the Republic of Congo, appointed on 12 May 2021. He is a member of the Congolese Labour Party (PCT) and a close collaborator of President Denis Sassou Nguesso. Makosso began his career as a teacher in Brazzaville before pursuing a degree in Public Law at Marien Ngouabi University, graduating in 1990. He entered politics as a political adviser and later director of the cabinet of the prefect of Kouilou. Between 1998 and 2011, he served as an adviser to President Sassou Nguesso and as director of the First Lady’s cabinet. Makosso then held several ministerial positions, including Minister of Youth and Civic Instruction and Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, before being elected as a member of parliament for Loandjili, Pointe-Noire, in 2017. As Prime Minister, he leads a 36-member government tasked with key national challenges, including managing public debt and engaging in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund. Beyond politics, Makosso is an accomplished writer, having published numerous works exploring political and social issues, reflecting his intellectual and civic engagement. On the international stage, he has actively promoted strategies for economic diversification and post-COVID recovery, while engaging in diplomatic efforts such as his 2025 official visit to Turkey to strengthen cooperation in sectors including defense, energy, mining, transport, education, health, agriculture, and the environment.
