H.E. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Born on 15 September 1942 in Shabani (now Zvishavane), Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa is a veteran liberation fighter and seasoned politician, nicknamed “The Crocodile” for his strategic acumen. He played an active role in Zimbabwe’s struggle for independence and held multiple key government positions post-independence, including Minister of State for National Security, Minister of Justice, Speaker of Parliament, and First Vice-President. Mnangagwa became President of Zimbabwe following the resignation of Robert Mugabe in November 2017 and was re-elected in 2018 and 2023. In 2024, he was appointed Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). His presidency has focused on economic reforms, including currency stabilization, modernization initiatives such as the licensing of Starlink internet services, and justice reforms like the abolition of the death penalty. He is recognized for his long-standing experience in Zimbabwean politics, regional leadership, and strategic governance.
