Eng. Karim Badawi was appointed Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in July 2024. He holds engineering degrees from the American University in Cairo, an MBA from Erasmus University, and executive training from Stanford, UC Berkeley, and IMD. With over 27 years at Schlumberger (SLB) in leadership roles across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the U.S., he played a key role in the Zohr gas field development and led the creation of the Egypt Upstream Gateway to digitalize exploration data. As minister, he is driving modernization, investment attraction, and infrastructure expansion in Egypt’s energy sector.
