H.E. Faustin-Archange Touadéra

His Excellency Faustin-Archange Touadéra, born on 21 April 1957 in Bangui, is the current President of the Central African Republic. A mathematician by training, he holds two doctorates in mathematics from universities in France and Cameroon. Before entering politics, he built a distinguished academic career, serving as Rector of the University of Bangui and co-founding the Euclid Consortium, an international distance-learning institution. Touadéra’s political career began when he was appointed Prime Minister in 2008 under President François Bozizé, a position he held until 2013. He later entered the 2015–2016 presidential elections as an independent candidate, winning the runoff with strong popular support. Sworn in as President in March 2016, he was re-elected in 2020 under his newly established party, the United Hearts Movement (MCU), and inaugurated for a second term in March 2021. As head of state, he has focused on restoring peace, strengthening state institutions, and tackling impunity in a nation marked by conflict and instability. In 2023, following constitutional reforms that removed term limits, Touadéra announced his candidacy for a third term in the 2025 elections.
