Jassim Alshirawi is the sixth Secretary General of the International Energy Forum (IEF), the world's largest international organization of energy ministers. He assumed office on January 1, 2025, becoming the first Secretary General from the Middle East. With over 40 years of experience in the energy industry, he has held leadership roles in both public and private sectors, contributing significantly to Bahrain's energy sector. His work includes advisory positions to the Minister of Oil & Gas and leadership roles at Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), the National Oil & Gas Authority, and the Ministry of Oil. He also contributed to the development of the Sustainable Energy Centre, overseeing the implementation of National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Plans. Alshirawi has been involved in various energy organizations, including the International Gas Union (IGU), the IEF, and OPEC. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the "Order of National Action" medal by His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa in December 2019
