H.E. Mahamane Lamine Zeine
Prime Minister
Republic of Niger
His Excellency Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine (born 1965 in Zinder, Niger) is the current Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Republic of Niger, appointed by the military junta in August 2023. An economist by training, he studied in France and worked with the African Development Bank in Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, and Gabon. He previously served as Minister of Economy and Finance (2003–2010) under President Mamadou Tandja, before being placed under house arrest during the 2010 coup. As Prime Minister, Zeine has played a key role in guiding Niger’s transitional government, promoting four main priorities: strengthening security, improving governance, achieving economic sovereignty, and advancing social reforms. He has also led high-level diplomatic missions to Russia, Türkiye, Morocco, and Iran, seeking new partnerships amid sanctions and regional isolation. Today, he stands as one of Niger’s most influential leaders, tasked with balancing domestic reforms with international diplomacy during a period of political transition.
