Laughlan Waterston is Managing Director and Head of Energy Finance for EMEA at SMBC Group, based in London. With nearly 20 years of banking experience, including over 15 years in project and structured finance, he has worked across power, renewables, oil & gas, mining, utilities, and infrastructure. Appointed in November 2023 after a period in Dubai, he leads SMBC’s energy finance strategy in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with expertise in lending, investments, debt capital markets, and financial advisory.
