Maged Fahim
Maged Mohamed Fahim Mahmoud is Director of the Upstream Technical Center at GeoEnergy Group and a senior geophysicist with over 30 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and subsurface evaluation. His work spans major hydrocarbon provinces in Egypt, including the Nile Delta, Mediterranean, Gulf of Suez, and the Western Desert, where he has contributed to exploration, appraisal, and development projects in complex geological settings.
He specializes in seismic interpretation, amplitude versus offset (AVO) analysis, quantitative interpretation (QI), and reservoir characterization. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in seismic-guided drilling, velocity modeling, and integrated subsurface workflows aimed at reducing uncertainty and improving exploration and development decision-making.
Maged began his career at the Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO), where he developed strong foundations in seismic processing, interpretation, and vertical seismic profiling (VSP). He later held senior technical roles at bp Egypt and Naftogaz, contributing to major exploration and development projects. He has also worked as an independent consultant and technical instructor, delivering training in seismic interpretation, rock physics, and advanced seismic workflows. In addition, he currently serves as an external lecturer at Suez Canal University, supporting academic development and mentoring future geoscientists.
He is a board member of the Egyptian Geophysical Society (EGS) and serves as General Advisor to the Al Amal Program, contributing to initiatives that bridge academia and industry and support young geoscience professionals. He has authored and presented technical papers at international conferences, including AAPG, SEG, and the Mediterranean Offshore Conference.
