Martin Deffontaines is the Managing Director and Country Chair of TotalEnergies E&P Angola. An engineer by training (ENSTA, University of Paris VI), he joined the company in 1991 and has held senior roles across Africa, Russia, Yemen, and in corporate strategy. Since taking charge in Angola, he has overseen the Kaminho deepwater project (FID in May 2024), the first large-scale development in the Kwanza Basin, featuring an all-electric FPSO and strong emissions-reduction measures. He is also advancing TotalEnergies’ multi-energy strategy in Angola through projects like the Quilemba solar plant, while championing local content development by onboarding dozens of Angolan suppliers and launching an incubator for young entrepreneurs.
