Mr Morakanele Thipe (Pr. Tech Eng) is the Manager in the Office of the Chief Executive Officer at the South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI). He holds a Master’s Degree in Construction Management from the University of Johannesburg and is a registered Professional Engineering Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). He is currently pursuing a PhD focused on Demand Side Management (DSM), with research interests in Demand Side Response (DSR), Distributed Energy Resources (DER), and Energy Efficiency. With over 25 years of experience in South Africa’s power sector, Mr Thipe has held senior roles at Eskom and City Power, specialising in electricity distribution, generation, and reticulation. His career highlights include the design of medium- to high-voltage networks, analysis of transmission and distribution systems, and the project management of large and complex engineering initiatives.
