Nmesoma (Soma) holds a combined master’s in engineering (MEng) degree in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from the University of Nottingham. During the course of obtaining her degree, she gained practical experience during a year-long industrial placement at a gas compressor manufacturing company in Switzerland, where she worked as a supply chain intern, optimising the raw material requirement planning (MRP) process for the company's Asian subsidiary. Upon graduation, Soma returned to Nigeria and worked in the energy sector. She served as a business operations analyst at an oil and gas servicing company, contributing to various project tenders, including the Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialisation Project (NGFCP). Later, as a corporate planner/strategist at Newcross Petroleum Limited, she played a key role in facilitating the corporate strategies & target using the resource & manpower of this gas condensate asset. With diverse experience across Nigeria's energy value chain, she has developed a deep understanding of the sector—particularly the challenges of energy poverty and limited access to clean cooking and reliable energy. Currently serving as Sales Manager – Flare Gas Recovery at Neuman & Esser, Soma leads the development and market strategy for the company’s integrated flare gas recovery solutions across Africa. She focuses especially In Nigeria, working to enhance energy security and support the continent’s energy transition through innovative gas commercialization technologies.
