Dr. Chaalal received his early education in Algeria at the Institut Algérien du Pétrole before pursuing postgraduate studies at Stevens Institute of Technology in the United States and furthering his academic journey at Newcastle University in the United Kingdom. He is currently a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Abu Dhabi University and is internationally recognized for his expertise in separation technologies and energy. Dr. Chaalal is the inventor of the Global Green AS Norway Process, which addresses carbon dioxide sequestration, reduces global warming, and enables the production of green ammonia as an alternative fuel. His process also has environmental applications in treating large quantities of desalinated formation water in oil fields. He also developed an Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) process using Smart Natural Materials, currently implemented by the French company Eoptima, which specializes in EOR technologies. Throughout his career, Dr. Chaalal has held several prestigious roles, including Chief Scientist at Enpro AS in Norway and scientific advisor to Triton Hydrogen Norway. He is affiliated with the Al Mobdioon Center of Excellence and Innovation at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia and serves on the advisory board of IIB Environmental Company in Japan. He is also on the editorial boards of several scientific journals. Dr. Chaalal has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and delivered more than 200 presentations worldwide. In June 2024, he was invited as a keynote speaker at the Peace Conference held in Nairobi, Kenya
