Simphiwe Jantjies is Head Outside SADC Region (East, Central and West Africa) at the Development bank of Southern Africa (DBSA). He is also the acting Head of Energy, ICT and Environment - South Africa. He is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships, as well as developing and originating infrastructure investments aligned with the mandate of the DBSA within his areas of responsibility. He has over 20 years of industry experience in infrastructure finance, project development and investment banking in South Africa and the rest of the African continent. He has spent the last 8 years growing the DBSA’s rest of Africa portfolio with over USD1bn (ca.18bn) investments in infrastructure projects across Energy, Transport and Bulk Logistics, ICT, Health and Education sectors. Simphiwe has an engineering background. In 2009, after practicing engineering for 5 years he received Investment Banking training at Barclays CIB (former Barclays Capital) in London, UK to transition into the sphere of finance. He holds a BSc. Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Cape Town, a CFA Charter from the CFA Institute, US and has recently completed the Advanced Management Programme (AMP) at Harvard Business School, US.
