  • Technip Energies Delegation to Advance Discussions on Africa’s Sustainable Future at AEW 2023

Global engineering and technology players for the energy transition Technip Energies has long-represented a strong partner for African countries, providing a suite of design and project development services that have brought developments to life in Africa.

The company remains committed to Africa’s energy future and serves as a catalyst for sustainable energy. During this year’s edition of the African Energy Week (AEW) conference and exhibition – taking place from October 16-20 at the Cape Town International Convention Center – a Technip Energies delegation will participate in numerous panel discussions, technical forums and country-focused platforms, leading discussions and networking under a common goal of making energy poverty history in Africa through sustainable investments.

With operations in 34 countries and 15,000 members of staff, Technip Energies has been at the forefront of many impactful energy developments in Africa. The company has been active across the continent for over six decades, during which time it has conducted more than 100 projects.

Technip Energies background and success in delivering world-class services across both established and burgeoning energy markets makes the company the partner of choice for emerging energy producers in Africa. At the forefront of the company’s agenda is Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), a resource which offers Africa the solution it needs to industrialize its economies, bolster electrification and socioeconomic growth while advancing a transition to a cleaner energy future. This commitment to LNG has seen Technip Energies collaborate on several large-scale developments such as the $4.6 billion Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project, located on the maritime border of Senegal and Mauritania. The project is on track to come online in 2024 with the first phase targeting 2.3 million ton per annum (mtpa) and the second 5 mtpa.

During AEW 2023, Technip Energies will be the sponsor of the Invest in MSGBC Energies session, confirming its commitment to the region’s energy future. COO Marco Villa will deliver an opening keynote that will also serve as an introduction to one of Technip Energies’ latest technological innovations, SnapLNG, a revolutionary technology that allows cost and time effectiveness.

Technip Energies has been at the forefront of the 3.4 mtpa Coral Sul Floating LNG project in Mozambique. The project celebrated a milestone of first cargo deliver in December 2022 and is poised to usher in a wave of economic benefits for the country. During AEW 2023, Technip Energies Mozambique Country Director & Head of Business development East Africa Julien Larour will participate in the Invest in Mozambique Energies session, centered on identifying further investment opportunities to develop the country’s domestic gas market while fueling exports and the development of associated industries.

Underscoring Technip Energies commitment to LNG in Africa, the company’s Offshore LNG BD & Sales Manager, Lorenzo Disaro, is participating in the LNG Forum at AEW 2023. The discussion explores the multifaceted role of LNG in driving economic growth, enhancing energy security and shaping global trade dynamics. During the discussion, Disaro will provide insight into Technip Energies efforts to further this agenda.

Meanwhile, Technip Energies expertise transcends LNG, with the company pursuing the development of innovative energy solutions that not only unlock high returns but provide base fuels for industrialization in Africa. During AEW 2023, the company’s Sales and Business Development Manager for Africa, Tarik Berair will share at the Hydrogen Summit, themed Powering the Future: Africa and Europe Unleashing the Green Hydrogen Revolution.

Technip Energies commitment to Africa extends into the local content and capacity building fields, with the company driving a suite of impactful initiatives in this regard. Rather than operating as a passive engineering firm, Technip Energies’ contribution to skills and technology development in Africa underscores its focus on sustainability. The company champions local content, with a strong track record of successful stories in many countries across Africa, most recent ones evidenced by signed agreements with countries such as Mauritania, Senegal, Namibia and Congo, to enhance capacity building for sustainable energy projects such as LNG, while implementing its Environmental, Social and Governance Roadmap to tackle global challenges. These initiatives, underpining the company’s sustainability approach, are critical to foster development as they result in high value projects such as the partnership with the Empresa Nacional de Hydrocarbonetos Logistics for the creation of the first engineering company in Mozambique. Edgar Longui, Director Global Strategic Marketing at Technip Energies is set to provide further insight during AEW 2023’s Enhancing Local Capacity in Oil and Gas Procurement, Fabrication and Manufacturing.

“Technip Energies represents the type of company that we need in Africa. Committed to sustainable energy such as LNG, the company has a rich history of collaborating with Africangovernments and international energy firms, and will remain of central importance for the continent as it moves to unlock the full potential of its gas industry” states NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber (AEC).

Technip Energies participation and contribution at AEW 2023 is bound to unlock a series of new deals and discussions. Delegates will be able to not only network with the Technip Energies delegation, but have the opportunity to collaborate on new projects as Technip Energies expands its influence and footprint in Africa. Join AEW 2023 and take part in the various panels set to be led by Technip Energies.

AEW is the AEC’s annual conference, exhibition and networking event. AEW 2023 will unite African energy policymakers and stakeholders with global investors to discuss and maximize opportunities within the continent’s entire energy industry. For more information about AEW 2023, visit
