With operations in 34 countries and 15,000 members of staff, Technip Energies has been at the forefront of many impactful energy developments in Africa. The company has been active across the continent for over six decades, during which time it has conducted more than 100 projects.
Technip Energies background and success in delivering world-class services across both established and burgeoning energy markets makes the company the partner of choice for emerging energy producers in Africa. At the forefront of the company’s agenda is Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), a resource which offers Africa the solution it needs to industrialize its economies, bolster electrification and socioeconomic growth while advancing a transition to a cleaner energy future. This commitment to LNG has seen Technip Energies collaborate on several large-scale developments such as the $4.6 billion Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project, located on the maritime border of Senegal and Mauritania. The project is on track to come online in 2024 with the first phase targeting 2.3 million ton per annum (mtpa) and the second 5 mtpa.

Technip Energies commitment to Africa extends into the local content and capacity building fields, with the company driving a suite of impactful initiatives in this regard. Rather than operating as a passive engineering firm, Technip Energies’ contribution to skills and technology development in Africa underscores its focus on sustainability. The company champions local content, with a strong track record of successful stories in many countries across Africa, most recent ones evidenced by signed agreements with countries such as Mauritania, Senegal, Namibia and Congo, to enhance capacity building for sustainable energy projects such as LNG, while implementing its Environmental, Social and Governance Roadmap to tackle global challenges. These initiatives, underpining the company’s sustainability approach, are critical to foster development as they result in high value projects such as the partnership with the Empresa Nacional de Hydrocarbonetos Logistics for the creation of the first engineering company in Mozambique. Edgar Longui, Director Global Strategic Marketing at Technip Energies is set to provide further insight during AEW 2023’s Enhancing Local Capacity in Oil and Gas Procurement, Fabrication and Manufacturing.
